Our Jini Dellaccio photography show closes on 1/26 with a print sale and closing party! Starting today, we will be spotlighting one photo from the collection each day, along with the story behind the image (thanks to curator Chuck Pennington). Today's photo is of Tacoma's kings of garage-punk, The Sonics, taken in 1965!

The Story: The Sonics were often visitors to Jini Dellaccio’s Gig Harbor home and studio. On a misty day in 1965, she asked the band to follow her out into the woods surrounding her home. The trees provided an opportunity for the band’s drummer Bob Bennett to demonstrate his climbing abilities. Jini often said that the band was always willing to go along with one of her ideas. Looking back she said, “They were such sweet boys.”
