Hot Vinyl Of The Day! 5/1/15

Happy May Day! Before May Day was overshadowed by protests, mayhem, and International Workers' Day, it was - and still is in many countries - a celebration of spring filled with festivities and celebration. We prefer the latter, although you can find plenty of mayhem in our vinyl pick of the day, The Replacements' 1981 debut, Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash! And similarly, before The 'Mats began writing brilliant pop songs and allowing themselves to be "produced," they were a killer punk band (with more hooks than most, mind you). This raucous diamond in the rough includes "I'm In Trouble," "Takin' A Ride," "Something to Dü" (a nod to their Minneapolis brethren, Husker Dü) and my own favorite, "Shut Up." This one's the original pressing on Twin Tone  - crank it up and take a dance 'round the maypole!
