Enter To Win Tickets To Alejandro Escovedo At Barboza!
Alejandro Escovedo's musical journey began in 1975 with San Francisco punk pioneers The Nuns. He soon moved to Austin to join forces with the Kinman brothers - formerly leaders of another prominent early SF punk band, The Dils - to form Rank & File, who led the way to a new type of music genre, now known as "alt-country." Escovedo continued in this style with his next band True Believers, and honed his skills with a series of beloved solo albums beginning with 1992’s acclaimed Gravity. His new album, Burn Something Beautiful (out 10/28), finds Escovedo writing songs with R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey, who also serve as the album's producers. Guests on the album include Kurt Bloch (The Fastbacks), drummer John Moen (The Decemberists), vocalists Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney) and Kelly Hogan (Neko Case) as well as saxophonist Steve Berlin (Los Lobos). Escovedo is performing an intimate show at Barboza on October 19th.
