San Diego-based Rounder recording artists Delta Spirit just released their self-titled third album in March. Vocalist/guitarist Matt Vasquez says the band was perplexed when their previous two albums were tagged as "Americana" or "twangy folk" when they saw themselves as "a thoroughly modern rock band." Vasquez says: " Just like novelists want to write the Great American Novel, we wanted to make a Great American Record. Not one about yesterday, but one about right now.” Delta Spirit will be bringing it to Neumos on May 4 along with tourmates Waters.
