Bad Veins

New This Week!

"Found"

Don't know about you, but when I hear the word "duo" applied to a new band, I imagine some blues shakers trying to be the next Black Keys or White Stripes, or earnest folkies singing in perfect harmony. I certainly do not expect epic, orchestrated pop that soars far above the ceiling of mediocrity. But along comes Cincinnati's Bad Veins, who actually claim to be a trio - their vintage '70s multitrack reel to reel tape deck named Irene being the third member - to shatter all my preconceptions of what duos are about. They also take Irene on the road, allowing them to have a full compliment of strings, horns, the works, at their disposal adding extra layers of loveliness to their already sublime pop songs. This is a real nice summertime record and I highly recommend it.
