Coconut Coolouts bring the noise to the party without a doubt. Throw on Party Time Machine and it’s just like doing a bump – instant pick me up! This is the soundtrack to hanging with your best buds, macking on a hot chick, partying ‘til you puke, waking up the next day with alcohol oozing out of your pores, and doing it all over again. Me, I cranked it, cleaned my apartment, and it is spotless. Told ya.

Bursting with crashing, catchy tunes, and filled with humorous lyrics, Party Time Machine definitely lives up to its name. From start to finish we got lotsa pop-tight, garagey, surfy, tambourine-laden party hits with just the right amount of "bah, bah-bahs." “Please Don’t Break Me Out of Party Jail” immediately made me think of “Halloween” by the Dead Kennedys. Similar East Bay Ray twangy guitar, same snotty vibrato like Jello, except the Coolouts aren’t mocking anyone. These guys take their partying seriously and probably professionally. You gotta check out “Headful of Stones.” They sound like The Troggs on this one! My favorite song on this album is “Created Complicated,” in which the chorus takes an unexpected but infectious chord change that keeps me hitting REPEAT over and over - just like I did the first time I heard “Kids of the Black Hole” by The Adolescents. Well, maybe not that many times, but close.

Undoubtedly, Coconut Coolouts are a talented bunch of musicians with a shared passion for great music and good times. Like myself, I imagine that the cool kids probably tormented them in junior high school. Fortunately for them, and us, they’ve grown into, and embraced their inner geekiness. Party Time Machine is a celebration of liberation. Dig it.
