All Them Witches are known for their loud and lengthy live shows. 2020 found the band releasing their critically acclaimed album, Nothing As The Ideal. An album release from this band would traditionally be followed by a lengthy 18-month tour across the globe, but due to an international pandemic, the band's touring plans were brought to a halt. This did not stop All Them Witches from assembling in a studio to broadcast a live set for their fans. The set was roundly received as an amazing performance and fans immediately inquired as to whether or not this show would be available on vinyl.

New West Records is proud to present All Them Witches - LIVE ON THE INTERNET. This 16-song set will be pressed on six variations of color vinyl across three LPs, housed in an individually numbered, foil-stamped wide spine jacket with spot gloss. Color variations include turquoise, black, white, pink, metallic silver, or metallic gold mixed with sea glass. Also includes an 11" x 11" insert.

Generally considered one of the Top 50 soundtracks of all times, Angelo Badalamenti's dark original score was complemented by a handful of powerful songs prominently featured in the film, most notably from Roy Orbison and Julee Cruise.  This was the first time Angelo and David Lynch worked together and the pairing has been a fruitful one henceforth.  Both men have been heavily involved in this deluxe edition expansion, contributing to new liner and shaping the audio program, which comes directly off the unedited master tapes. Bobby Vinton's "Blue Velvet" has also been added to the tracklist for the first time.  Pressed on marbled blue vinyl, and album art features the original art from the Italian movie poster designed by Enzo Sciotti.

Chet Baker is highly regarded as one of jazz's greatest trumpet players, and he recorded numerous albums over his 35 year recording career. Recorded in 1969, Albert's House features eleven instrumental compositions by Steve Allen, who produced the recording session to assist Baker in restarting his career after a horrific dental injury in '68. The sessions feature an all-star group of players with Paul Smith on keyboards, Barney Kessel on guitar, Jim Hughart on bass and Frank Capp (of Wrecking Crew fame) on drums.

Over three LPs this set includes his early ‘50s work with the Nor-Ikes, and his early ‘70s albums Hye Inspiration and Middle Eastern Soul. There were no overdubs, edits, punch-ins, remixes or remastering. This type of recording is very rare due to the technical and creative difficulty associated with it. In 1969 -- some three years before his self-titled debut solidified his stature as a pre-eminent Fender bender -- Roy Buchanan signed with Polydor Records and began work on his first full-length platter. But it took 35 years before this material saw the light of day with the release of The Prophet: The Unreleased First Polydor Album on CD. Augmenting the 11-track running order that would have made up that disc, the single-CD package contained 30+ minutes of previously unreleased outtakes, including tunes documented at an aborted March of 1971 session. This stuff is every bit as good as the official Polydor releases; the medley of "After Hours"/"The Messiah Will Come Again," for instance, might even be better than the respective later versions of those songs that showed up on Roy's albums. Never before on vinyl, the Prophet comes in a two album set, pressed on orange and black "fire" vinyl (because you won't often encounter more fiery guitar work than what's here), housed in a gatefold jacket and limited to 2,500 copies worldwide.

Madlib reissues his long out of print collaboration with legendary Brazilian drummer Ivan “Mamao” Conti, propellant for lauded jazz fusion archetypes Azymuth, on his own imprint. Alternate cover artwork, photography by B+.

When Madlib went to Brazil in 2002 with Mochilla to participate in the production of the Brazilintime documentary, his one mission was to meet Ivan “Mamao” Conti, the drummer of the legendary trio Azymuth. Madlib had made an Azymuth tribute record he wanted to play for him. On a rainy night in Rio, Mamao and Madlib went in the studio. Several hours later the rhythm tracks that make up Sujinho were laid and the process began.

Featuring the music of Madlib, Mamao, Edu Lobo, Chico Buarque de Hollanda, Luiz Eca, Baden Powell, Vinicius De Moraes, Marcos Valle, Joao Donato, Dom Um Romao, Airto Moreira and even George Duke… and with guest vocals by Thalma De Freitas — Sujinho is a unique and classic record. Filled with the angularity and edge of a Madlib production and underwritten by the polyrhythmics of Mamao — Sujinho takes Brazilian music into places it has never been, bringing oft-forgotten classics like “Upa Neguinho” to 21st century ears.

Kinked is a compilation of Dave Davies' work from the late '90s and early 2000s. A lot of this disc features selections from the 1998 collection Unfinished Business: Dave Davies Kronikles 1963-1998, which itself contained a bunch of re-recordings from the late '90s of classic Kinks tunes.

That accounts for a little under half of this 15-track collection, the rest contains selections from the 2000 live album Rock Bottom: Live at the Bottom Line (four tracks) and 2002's studio album Bug (two cuts), plus a couple of relative rarities -- "When the Wind Blows (Emergency)," which was written for the End Hunger Network in 1997, and a cover of George Harrison's "Give Me Love, Give Me Peace on Earth," which was for a 2003 Harrison tribute album -- and a brand new tune, "God in My Brain," which was written and recorded in 2006, after Davies recovered from a serious stroke.

Recorded in the throes of their Philadelphia folk-rock phase during the late ‘60s, this record is a collection of rare early recordings by Daryl Hall & John Oates, before their signing to Atlantic Records. Prior to releasing their debut album, Whole Oats,' these two composer-performers had sketched out a series of songs, several of which went on to become early Hall & Oates classics. A great piece of rock history showcasing that early Philly sound before Hall & Oates went on to become one of America’s greatest pop-rock duos.

One of rock ‘n’ roll's pioneers of shock rock, the indescribable Screamin' Jay Hawkins paved the way for music performance art and glam artists to come. His classic "I Put A Spell On You," included on this set, was banned from radio in 1956 for sexual overtones. His legendary performances had him dressed in gold and leopard costumes with props including rubber snakes, a smoking skull on a stick, and his signature coffin. Over his career he didn't record many studio albums. In 1972 he released "A Portrait Of A Man and His Woman." Long out-of-print, it was re-released on CD in 2001 as "My Little Shop Of Horrors," adding a recording of his signature hit, "I Put A Spell On You," which included cover versions of Conway Twitty's "It's Only Make Believe," Fats Domino's "Please Don't Leave Me," and Jesse Belvin's "Guess Who."
This 12 track CD reissue makes its vinyl debut here.

Who would have figured the man who brought us the world's most potent "Psychobilly Freakout" back in 1992 would be helping to share in the joy of the holiday season a mere 13 years later? We Three Kings is a set of 12 classic Christmas tunes (with one new original added for good measure) whipped into a nervous froth of twangy guitar and rolling drums by Jim Heath and his partners in crime. Another amazing release from the official Jimi Hendrix “bootleg label” Dagger Records, this raw, direct to two-track, live recording from the Olympia Theatre in Paris was captured for French national radio and documents the Experience’s triumphant return to France almost one year from the date of their 1966 debut. Recorded on October 9, 1967, The Experience were in top form, roaring out of the gate with “Stone Free,” and following with vibrant renditions of “Hey Joe,” “Fire,” “The Wind Cries Mary” and “Catfish Blues.” “Rock Me Baby” and a compact “Red House” prefaced a grinding, muscular take of “Purple Haze,” followed by “Wild Thing,” replete with a rousing, tongue-in-cheek lead vocal that emphatically closed the show. Released for RSD Black Friday on red and blue mixed vinyl.

Chris Isaak’s Beyond the Sun is a self-described labor of love. Since he fell in love with his parents’ 45s as a child, this passionate writer/artist has been obsessed with the glory days of Memphis’ Sun Studio and the visionary artists who got their starts there—including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis. Isaak magically recaptures the transformative brilliance of the classic sides cut by these greats at Sun and originally released on Sun Records with Sam Phillips during the mid-’50s.

“Georgia Blue is a labor of love. On election day 2020, when I saw that there was a good chance the state of Georgia might go blue, I came up with an idea: to record an album of Georgia- related songs as a thank you to the state and donate the money to a Georgia based non-profit organization. I will admit my motivations were a bit selfish. For years, I’ve been looking for an excuse to record these songs with my band and some friends. The songs on this album are some of my favorite Georgia-related songs, but the tracklist is not meant to be comprehensive. I would love to cover Outkast and 2 Chainz, but I don’t think the finished product would be very good. We’re a rock band, so we covered rock songs. We have roots in blues and R&B, so we enlisted some brilliant artists to help us pull off songs by Precious Bryant, James Brown, and Gladys Knight. My favorite part of the Georgia Blue recording process was having the opportunity to work with these very special artists, and I thank them: Amanda Shires, Brittney Spencer, Adia Victoria, Brandi Carlile, Julien Baker, Bèla Fleck, Chris Thile, Steve Gorman, Peter Levin, and John Paul White. I hope you enjoy listening to these recordings as much as we enjoyed making them. Keep listening to good music and fighting the good fight.”

Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer, and namesake of arguably the greatest Rock n' Roll song of all time-- Johnny B. Goode, Johnnie Johnson lived in obscurity in his hometown of St. Louis. Johnnie's breakthrough in popularity began with Hail, Hail Rock N’ Roll, Taylor Hackford's documentary about two 1986 concerts celebrating Chuck Berry. Hot on the heels of that movie came Nonesuch Records’ Johnnie B. Bad album, produced by NRBQ pianist Terry Adams, with two tracks produced by Keith Richards. The record represents Johnnie's brilliance
and reaffirms him as the formative master of rock n' roll piano. Guest performers include Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Steve Ferguson, Big Al Anderson, Joey
Spompinato, Bernie Worrell, Steve Jordan and Tom Ardolino.

This RSD Black Friday release from Saint Louis’ record store/label Euclid Records… Records marks that album’s debut on vinyl, remastered by Chris Muth and pressed on 180g vinyl
at QRP. The package also boasts brand new gatefold packaging.

Early on the morning of March 14th 1974, right in the middle of their second UK tour, Magma recorded one session for the John Peel sessions, playing only two pieces, but clocking in at 57 minutes, making it one of the longest, if not the longest, studio session ever recorded for this program; ''Theusz Hamtaahk'' (LP 1) & ''Kohntarkosz'' (LP 2), now available on vinyl for the first time.

Sloan on guitar, Phil Spector’s Wrecking Crew members Hal Blaine (Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys)) on drums, and Larry Knechtel (The Doors, Simon & Garfunkel) on bass. The song would be covered by countless artists (The Turtles, Johnny Thunders, The Pretty Things, Public Enemy), and was also featured on the soundtrack to the film Good Morning Vietnam, among other anti-war movies and TV shows. Mobb Deep redefined East Coast hip-hop in the early ‘90s with their release Juvenile Hell and the break-out follow up The Infamous. As the group moved into the 2000s and parted ways with their long-time label, Loud, they released Free Agents as a celebration of their moving on to … well, free agent status. With Havoc handling production on all but three cuts and only two guest appearances (one being from long-time Queensbridge associate Big Noyd) Free Agents is uncut, undiluted Mobb Deep all the way through. The reaction from fans was solid, catapulting the record to its peak at # 21 on the Top 200 with a Top 5 position on the R&B/Hip Hop charts. To commemorate the album's 10th anniversary, the first-ever vinyl release of the acclaimed tenth album by classic rock icons Night Ranger! Somewhere In California, which earned a rare 100% rating from MelodicRock.com and led to the band's first appearance on the Billboard Top 200 in 23 years, saw the '80s hard rockers -- best known for the timeless anthems "Sister Christian," "(You Can Still) Rock In America" and "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" -- return to form with an album that measured up to the likes of the platinum classics "Midnight Madness" and "7 Wishes."

The album was the group's first with guitarist Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and ushered in a decade that saw the band -- who have sold more than 17 million records worldwide -- achieve its highest visibility in years via tours with the likes of Journey, Def Leppard, Foreigner and Sammy Hagar. A modern AOR classic from a legendary band that both epitomized and transcended
the arena rock sound! Includes an extensive liner notes interview with band members Jack Blades (bass/vocals) and Kelly Keagy (drums/vocals.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Grant-Lee Phillips has unwrapped a new gift for the Christmas season: an EP of Americana-crooning holiday tunes, titled Yuletide. The EP showcases Phillips' original "Winterglow" (popularized by his Town Troubadour character on Gilmore Girls) and some covers that Grant breathes new life into, such as Nat King Cole's "Take Me Back to Toyland" and Frank Sinatra's "An Old-Fashioned Christmas." The holiday doesn't end at Christmas, however, as Grant puts a spin on the New Year's staple "Auld Lang Syne," adding a topical new verse to inspire hope towards days of peace. This is the first time any of these songs have been available on vinyl. Pressed on green vinyl.

No Other Love was the sixth album in a solo career that began when California native Chuck Prophet split from Green on Red in 1990. Green on Red helped lead the way for the insurgent country of the 1990s, but on his own Prophet has grown far beyond the category. No Other Love is maverick genre-bending in the manner of Beck and Jim White, and the stylistic variety suits Prophet's compositions, peopled by crazed desperados and beautiful losers. The songs run the gamut from the raunchy horn-driven swagger of "That's How Much I Need Your Love" to the stinging, pleading "Elouise," where his ever-inventive guitar vies with Farfisa organ. Prophet enjoys spicing songs with pop culture references, but his wry humor is counterbalanced by a strong moral undertow in "I Bow Down and Pray to Every Woman I See" and the beautiful "Summertime Thing." This is a Prophet with plenty of honor. This limited edition release will be pressed on red splatter vinyl at MPO in France. Mastered for vinyl by Jason NeSmith - Chase Park.

No Other Love is now on vinyl for the first time outside of a limited German release in 2002. This release is limited to 4,000 copies worldwide

Limited 1500 quantity 3LP set of Lou Reed and Kris Kristofferson's set from 1994 at the famed Bottom Line in NYC.

We bring you another historic, once-in-a-lifetime meeting taking place during the winter of ’94 on that venerable Bottom Line stage. Culled from an evening that also included Suzanne Vega and Victoria Williams, there was perhaps no other pairing more perfectly suited to the In Their Own Words platform than this singular meeting of Lou Reed and Kris Kristofferson. As much a course in music history and songwriting as a performance, and years before VH1’s Storytellers series, Allan Pepper and Vin Scelsa’s ITOW series afforded the audience a window into the minds of their favorite songsmiths, in a run that lasted from May of 1990 until March of 2003.

The two songsmiths in question were born and raised in two very different worlds - Lou Reed in the jungles of New York City and Kris Kristofferson in the heart of the Southland. Still, both men demanded total artistic freedom and created raw, brutally honest art that addressed strikingly similar issues of struggles – with loneliness and alienation, addiction and recovery, love and loss, good and evil, vulnerability and hopelessness - painfully aware of contradictions and critical of hypocrisy, painting pictures of characters known or imagined, yet always finding the humanity in our faults and weaknesses during our darkest hours. Through the lens of their music, Lou and Kris view the human condition with a sense of humility and no small amount of humor, which was always close at hand.

In the late ‘90s, Wu-Tang Clan superstar RZA developed a new persona. Based on his birth name and the fact that he was branching out into more digital production, Bobby Diggs became Bobby Digital. As RZA himself put it, “My birth name is Bobby Diggs. So at the time, creatively, I felt like I was in a digital frame…. As Bobby Digital, I could use a character to describe some of the earlier days of my own life. Partying, bullshitting, going crazy, chasing women, taking drugs. It was a mixture of fiction and reality together to make a character I thought would be entertaining.”

RZA released Bobby Digital In Stereo in 1998 and it was certified Gold in a matter of months. Its follow-up, Digital Bullet, dropped in August of 2001, continuing the conceptual story arch from …In Stereo, but with Bobby Digital growing more enlightened and becoming disillusioned with the hedonism that previously served as his fuel. Audiences reacted by driving the release up to # 24 on the Top 200 and a Top 10 position on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. Available on LP for the first time since the mid-2000s, in a translucent yellow vinyl pressing exclusive to RSD Black Friday.

In 1968, Dusty Springfield was already an international superstar with fifteen hits under her belt for the Philips label when she decided it was time for a change. What followed was one of the most legendary and momentous label moves in pop music history: Dusty decamped to Atlantic Records, where, under the tutelage of Jerry Wexler, Tom Dowd, and Arif Mardin, she recorded one of the greatest albums of all time, Dusty in Memphis, and scored such indelible hits as 'Son-of-a Preacher Man' and 'The Windmills of Your Mind' before moving on to Philly soul ('A Brand New Me).

We at Real Gone Music have closely examined this crucial period in Dusty's career over the years, with three previous releases. But there remains one facet of her Atlantic period which has remained largely untouched: her singles. The Complete Atlantic Singles 1968-1971 presents the A and B-sides of all dozen singles she recorded for the label in their original mono single mixes, on vinyl for the first time in over 50 years (most of these single mixes weren't even available on compact disc until our recent CD release). These singular sides highlight how the move to a more R&B sound at Atlantic (also aided by producers Gamble & Huff and Jeff Barry with such players as The Memphis Boys and The Sweet Inspirations) brilliantly capitalized on the smoky tones of Dusty's mezzo-soprano to create some of the most potent blue-eyed soul ever recorded.

Mastered by Mike Milchner from original tape sources, annotated by Joe Marchese, and featuring copious photos, The Complete Atlantic Singles 1968-1971 is an absolute must for any Dusty devotee or any soul fan to boot. Ruby red 2-LP vinyl pressing limited to 3,000 copies worldwide.

Since 1995, the Squirrel Nut Zippers have sacked and plundered the old, weird America then sailed off to further distant lands. They have used New Orleans as their hideout and base of operations. Jean-Lafitte-like the hide in the lee side of barrier island, receiving goods and masking dark back channel deals; hiding in cellars or in plain view.

In 2020, fans were able to gaze into the tea leaves that make up their brand new album: Lost Songs of Doc Souchon to see if they can discern their own destiny. Now, on the heals of the successful reunion album from SNZ members Jimbo Mathus, "13 Stories," "Lost Songs of Doc Souchon " is finally available on limited edition vinyl for RSD Black Friday 2021.

Lost Songs Of Doc Souchon follows the band’s last studio album, Beasts Of Burgundy, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard Jazz Album Chart. Also, Andrew Bird makes his first appearance on a Squirrel Nut Zippers album since Perennial Favorites (1998, Mammoth)

“This new album was inspired by all of the mysterious characters from the history of New Orleans jazz music,” commented band leader Jimbo Mathus. “It speaks to the hidden roots of where our aesthetic, interests and philosophy comes from. It pulls on the hidden thread.”

Lost Songs Of Doc Souchon contains ten new tracks, a combination of newly written Zippers material, along with a few songs from past times.

The first single from the album “Animule Ball” was originally recorded back in 1938 by Jelly Roll Morton. In keeping with that time period, the band turned to Fleischer Studios (home of Betty Boop) to use some of their historic animations for a brand new video for the track.

“When I first started the Zippers the Max and Dave Fleischer cartoons were a huge part of our inspiration. The look, the music, all of it," commented Jimbo Mathus. "So to have their blessing to use some of these characters and create something new with it is thrilling to me.”

“Fleischer Studios has a long history of bringing together the best in music and animation, so the opportunity to continue that great tradition with a band like the Squirrel Nut Zippers, nearly 100 years after debuting the first sound cartoon in 1926, is a wonderful honor; and one that would surely put a smile on Max Fleischer's face,” commented Jeni Mahoney.

The Squirrel Nut Zippers began their musical journey in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in the mid 1990’s, as a musician’s escape from the cookie cutter world of modern rock radio at the time. Jimbo Mathus along with drummer/percussionist Chris Phillips formed the band as a casual musical foray among friends and family in the area. It wasn’t long before the band’s quirky mix of jazz chords, folk music, and punk rock leanings spread out of the region and attracted a national audience.

Between 1995-2000 the Squirrel Nut Zippers sold over three million albums. Their watershed album, Hot (1996) was recorded in the heat of New Orleans, fueled by a smoldering mix of booze and a youthful hunger to unlock the secrets of old world jazz. This passion mixed with klezmer, blues and random bits of contemporary musical leanings became the bands signature style. At the time, there were few other bands inhabiting this space. The album would eventually break free of any “jazz” stereotypes and land on commercial radio, taking the band to remarkable heights for what was essentially an anti-establishment sound.

This release lets you hear how exactly the Stray Cats established their reputation as a great live band.

Omniverse, recorded in New York in 1979 and released that year on Sun Ra's Saturn label (catalog #91379), is a solid, overlooked set in the vast Ra canon. The tracks aren't so much compositions as excursions, with few memorable themes or recurring motifs. It's pure jazz, somewhat "inside" (for Ra), with little of the aggressiveness and confrontation for which the bandleader was renowned. ("Visitant of the Ninth Ultimate" is an exception.) Omniverse offers lots of reflective piano in trio, quartet, and sextet settings. Instead of a keyboard showcase, Sun Ra engages in dynamic interplay with the rhythm section. The horns are featured largely as soloists; there are few ensemble passages.

Willie Mae 'Big Mama" Thornton, is an American Blues legend known as the amazing voice behind the original "Hound Dog" and "Ball & Chain". She sadly passed away in 1984 at the young age of 57 after a hard life in the music business, having added a female voice to a field that was dominated by white males, and her strong personality transgressed stereotypes of what an African-American woman should be. This transgression was an integral part of her performance and stage persona.

Recorded live in 1977 at Montreal’s infamous Rising Sun Celebrity Jazz Club, this release was remastered for its first-ever vinyl release and includes her biggest songs plus unreleased material and a new cover painting by John Rummen.

TO THE EXTENT THAT AMERICAN HIP HOP OWES A DEBT TO JAMAICAN MUSIC, THAT DEBT IS ALSO OWED TO U ROY

This Limited-Edition vinyl release for RSD Black Friday 2021 celebrates the long and ground-breaking career of the artist who single-handedly created the model for all succeeding reggae DJs, the legendary U ROY.

It is impossible to overstate his importance to the history of reggae, representing a status as Louis Armstrong’s lasting influence on Jazz; U Roy’s feat of having the Top 3 best-selling singles at one time in 1970 on the airwaves & in record shops announced the beginning of a long recording and live performance career, known internationally as the ‘Rasta Ambassador’, a status he held until his death in February 2021. Quite simply, U Roy created the template for all those countless Mic MCs who followed his example, from the 1970s to now. Bob Marley was known to not be a fan of the DJ music sweeping the dance in Jamaica, but when asked what he thought of the trend replied “Well…me like U Roy.”

Pressed on clear vinyl (with liner notes by the noted reggae producer/historian Leroy Pierson), this compilation includes Roy’s collaborations with the leading vocalists of the day (including Johnnie Clarke, Lee Perry, The Heptones, Slim Smith and others), on his own, now-extremely rare JA-only 45 releases, from the collection on Sound System Records, Foundation Skank . There are also sides from an earlier release on Sound System (out of print on vinyl for 20 years) The Lost Album: Right Time Rockers, cited by the Rough Guide To Reggae as one of its 100 Essential LPs. Chatting as a master jazz scat-vocalist over the rhythms originally cut at the Channel One studio in Kingston for the all-time greatest LP of the vocal group Mighty Diamonds, they give an intimate look at the island’s #1 DJ at the top of his form.

By the time of his demise at the age of 78, every accolade, honor, and recognition given in the reggae world were abundantly his, including the Jamaican government’s highest commendation, The National Order Of Distinction. From the early days until his end, U Roy was the epitome of the Rastafarian message of black pride and love. His primacy in the forefront of reggae is known world-wide, and Sound System Records gives thanks for our two decades + association with the man known as Daddy Roy.

For the first time on vinyl and newly remastered on a color vinyl 2LP set with new notes from David Byrne, the record that started it all.

“Some of the artists represented on this compilation were forced into exile from Brazil as a result of sweet sounding songs like these. It is hard for us to imagine this music as being in any way dangerous, but the military regime that ruled Brazil during the late '60s and early '70s found it quite threatening. The combination of lyrics, the re-introduction of Afro-Brazilian rhythms and the electric guitars encouraged and inspired a whole generation in Brazil, much to the dismay of the government of the time. Maybe those songs are a more human form of political pop than our rabble rock epics which often sound too close to national anthems or marches for me. I first heard music like this years ago. I didn't 'get it' then, I couldn't hear it for what it was. Then, years later, I picked up a few LPs by Milton Nascimento and Caetano Veloso. I had no idea what was on them, I was buying blind, as I often do. I guess I was ready, because after that I became kind of obsessed, and every time I went to the record shop, I'd get a couple of Brazilian LPs. Some were great, real seductive ear openers, while others were not at all to my taste. But the gems far outweighed the garbage. I became intrigued by the question: What kind of culture could produce such radical yet beautiful music? - David Byrne

Now-Again Records follow up to one of its most well-loved compilations, Forge Your Own Chains, with another batch of rare, largely uncompiled--and sometimes barely heard--heavy psych-rock and funk. Pounding drums, scathing fuzz guitar and morose, contemplative lyrics will bring you up on a downer.

Tickets For Doomsday, as the title hints, is and rumination on what might befall the human race – made especially salient by the past year’s trials and tribulations – as performed by prison funk ensembles, Indonesian hippies, Krautrock legends, Icelandic prog-rock bands and even Bay Area rap catalyst E-40’s uncle, the man to rst distribute Master P’s No Limit Records, and the creator of this album’s title track, St. Charles “Chucky” Thurman. “Weird Al”, a pop culture icon, who also happens to be the most requested artist in the history of the Dr. Demento Show, stated of the recording, “How could I not contribute to this project. I love punk music, and Dr. Demento changed my entire life in an extraordinary way. I selected “Beat on the Brat” by the Ramones, because I truly believe it’s the most upbeat, danceable song about child abuse ever written.” The flip side features an all-new studio version of the title track by Osaka Popstar (from the forthcoming deluxe edition of the critically acclaimed “Osaka Popstar and the American Legends of Punk” album), plus three additional Ramones covers by Osaka Popstar recorded LIVE in concert—with special guest appearances by members of the Misfits, Ramones & Black Flag—never before released on vinyl!
