Paquito D'Rivera (the highly regarded Cuban-American alto saxophonist and winner of 14 Grammy Awards) and Arturo Sandoval (the highly regarded Cuban-American jazz trumpeter and winner of 10 Grammy Awards) reunited in Germany to record this incredibly special album, originally released in 1991.
"Reunion was the first time that Paquito D'Rivera and trumpeter Arturo Sandoval recorded together since D'Rivera's defection in 1980; Sandoval had recently left Cuba himself. The co-leaders are joined by a superb band: pianist Danilo Perez, acoustic guitarist Fareed Haque, bassist David Finck, drummer Mark Walker, and Giovanni Hidalgo on conga. The group mostly performs originals plus a couple Chucho Valdes songs, "Body and Soul" (a showcase for Sandoval) and Dizzy Gillespie's "Tanga." Plenty of fireworks occur on this consistently heated Afro-Cuban jazz set and the co-leaders clearly inspire each other. When will they have their next reunion?" -Scott Yanow, AllMusic

Since he was the legendary wild man of the Kinks -- the man responsible for their proto-heavy metal guitars, the battling brother of Ray -- it's been easy to pigeonhole Dave Davies as just a hard rocker but anybody who paid close attention to his solo work would know that he has a spiritual, even mystical, dimension to his music which shines through clearly on this classic Dave Davies album.
Originally released in 2007, Fractured Mindz was Dave’s first release after a stroke several years earlier -- a musical journey with The Kinks' guitarist with stops for fame and fortune, sibling rivalry and stroke recovery. First time on vinyl! 2XLP with etching on 4th side.

In 1992, Dave Davies and Gerry Goffin wrote "21st Century" together at a coffee shop in Los Angeles. It is a song about the then-upcoming new millennium, but eerily, the lyrics could have been written today. This RSD Black Friday 7” single pairs a demo of “21st Century” with “Web of Time, a B-side from Davies’ 2018 album Decade.
"21st Century"/"Web of Time"
Thanks to Foo Fighter Dave Grohl and friends, DREAM WIDOW lives.
DREAM WIDOW is the malevolent creation of Dave Grohl (handling vocals, guitar, bass and drums) and lead guitarist Jim Rota of Fireball Ministry renown. Assisted on a few tracks by keyboardists Rami Jaffee and Oliver Roman, Grohl and Rota make good on the sinister promise to blur the lines between reality and darkest fantasy.
The name and mythos of DREAM WIDOW will be familiar to those who’ve laughed and screamed watching Foo Fighters’ horror-comedy feature film, STUDIO 666. In the film, Foo Fighters attempt to record their newest album in the same house where the legendary — and fictional — DREAM WIDOW met its tragic and untimely end — with hilariously horrifying consequences.

Touring in support of their fifth studio album, Airborne, The Flying Burrito Brothers performed at the legendary New York City venue, The Bottom Line on August 18, 1976. This 12-track set features many of their classic songs alongside a few C&W standards. The group's lineup consisted of Skip Battin and Gene Parsons (both ex-Byrds band members), along with Gib Guilbeau, Joel Scott Hill and original Burrito, pedal steel legend, "Sneaky" Pete Kleinow. This live recording is previously unreleased.
"1976 was a great year for re-iteration of the Flying Burrito Brothers having the opportunity to travel throughout the USA celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the United States. Though Gram Parsons wasn't around anymore, Chris Hillman embarked on a solo career, and Chris Ethridge had just departed this band, we had some great guys that just happened to be real familiar with the 'Burrito' mentality. It all came together quite spectacularly! To begin, Gib Guilbeau was my life-long pal and Cajun guy par excellence. Gene Parsons, formerly of the Byrds, was he drummer from hell who lifted the excitement to the limit (and picked a great banjo and string bender guitar. What can I say about Joel Scott Hill? A rebel? A reverent fanatic? A soulful and emotional artist? ALL of the above! Then there is Skip Battin, who just joined the band whom everyone loved and called friend who provided very original bass and vocal support. All these cuts are genuine items from a live performance at New York City's legendary "Bottom Line" club with all the warts AND magical moments. No fix ups and no apologies. Just real music and true enthusiasm. This was the way it was when he hit the road in 1976!"

Released in 1974, Aqua is the first solo album by Tangerine Dream's frontman Edgar Froese. It is known as his most influential release as his entire advance was invested in the acquisition and development of the then-unknown sequencers and modular synthesisers. “Aqua is a work of creation that has opened many doors to the sound exploration and to the parameters in a fusion between abstract and harmony". This release has been out of print on vinyl until now. This deluxe package includes a 2005 bonus track and new album art that has never been released on vinyl. This RSD Black Friday release brings together four studio demo sessions from The Heartbreakers (Johnny Thunders, Walter Lure, Billy Rath & Jerry Nolan) from 1976 and 1977, compiled onto one album for the first time.
Two sessions were recorded in 1976 in New York, including four tracks in their early incarnation with Richard Hell, and later six tracks after Billy Rath had joined on bass. In London in 1977, they recorded one session just prior to signing with Track Records, and another after L.A.M.F. had been released, with The Clash’s Terry Chimes on drums replacing the newly departed Jerry Nolan.
Pressed on transparent magenta vinyl, this release comes with a 12” poster of the Roberta Bayley cover photo, an outtake from the L.A.M.F. cover session, and an inner bag with Walter Lure interviewed by Johnny Thunders’ biographer Nina Antonia in 2005. The album shows the development of the band building towards their classic 1977 ‘L.A.M.F.’ album (recently reissued with a newly found original master), and further points to the direction they would have gone had they not split up.

Burning Desire is part of Dagger Records’ authorized Jimi Hendrix ‘bootleg’ releases. Mixed by Eddie Kramer, the collection presents compelling examples of Jimi’s remarkable creative explorations through 1969 and early 1970. In the shadow of Electric Ladyland, the original Jimi Hendrix Experience struggled to remain a cohesive unit and Jimi’s ceaseless creative pursuit would lead to experimental sessions with bassist Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles and ambitious attempts to integrate fresh musical elements. On these studio recordings, Jimi can be heard developing exciting new material such as “Ezy Ryder,” “Cherokee Mist,” “Villanova Junction Blues,” “Izabella,” and “Burning Desire.” Burning Desire was originally released on CD via mail order only, seeing it’s only LP release on black vinyl as part of a previous RSD Black Friday event. The double LP will now be available for the first time since, pressed on Translucent Orange and Red vinyl by QRP as part of the new RSD Encores series revisiting popular releases from past Record Store Day and RSD Black Friday releases.

The sixth album from Hot Tuna (Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady and Bob Steeler) would become one of the hardest rocking album ever in the power trio’s large catalog of blues/rock projects over the last five decades. Released in 1975, Yellow Fever would become a fan favorite with tracks like Jimmy Reed's "Baby What You Want Me To Do" as well as plenty of hard blues rockers from Jorma Kaukonen like "Bar Room Crystal Ball" "Song For The Fire Maiden" and "Free Rein." This RSD Black Friday yellow vinyl version, the first vinyl edition since 1975, was mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso from the original Grunt Records tapes.

Shortly after Jay Dee’s younger brother Illa J’s solo debut, Yancey Boys, was issued on Delicious Vinyl, the label and the artist knew the next step in honoring Jay Dee’s legacy was to issue the complete instrumentals from Yancey Boys as a stand-alone release.
This mother lode of (at the time) previously untouched beats dates as far back as Jay Dee’s time working on the Pharcyde’s sophomore album “Labcabincalifornia” (1995). As Delicious Vinyl owner Michael Ross explains, “From ‘95 through ‘98 Jay Dee was my go-to guy for hot beats and remixes. He was always making beats, always. So there was a select amount of tracks that he composed for me during that time, tracks as good as anything he’d done, only they never got used.” Once these beats were used for Illa J’s Yancey Boys they were presented to the public on Yancey Boys Instrumentals.
For RSD Black Friday Delicious Vinyl presents this key material from Jay Dee’s output in a never-before-issued and not-to-be-repeated colored vinyl pressing.

The legendary 1964 rehearsal collaboration receives its first official issue. Released with full cooperation and approval from Jorma Kaukonen and the Janis Joplin Estate.
Despite being one of Memphis’s most long-running, prolific and popular gospel groups, The Jubilee Hummingbirds’ story remains largely unwritten. Early members O.V. Wright and James Carr — both of whom crossed over into secular music while singing with The Jubilee Hummingbirds — have guaranteed their mention in soul circles, but for a group with such a presence in their home city, and a generous multi-label discography that began on wax in the mid-‘60s and continues to this day, the Hummingbirds are a living, breathing example of the ever-present yet invisible place that gospel music, by its very design, can occupy.
Their 1983 LP, Gospel Express, was just one chapter in the rich history of The Jubilee Hummingbirds, but a significant one that deserves a deep focus. They were a little over halfway through their eighty-four-years-and-counting history when these recordings were made and they’re still singing today, now under the leadership of William "Redd" Watson. In 1983, shortly after Watson joined the group the ‘Birds landed on Bishop Bobby King’s Gospel Express imprint. The vinyl-hustling enigma behind such street-level setups as Hub-City and Home-Boys, King was a ghetto gospel impresario who went by so many different names that much of his activity is still a mystery. King’s calling card was the cut-and-paste album cover, which was almost ahead of its time in its crudely-collaged aesthetic. Gospel Express is being given a second lease on life in this RSD Black Friday edition.

For a certain generation of hip-hop fans, just the mention of Kid ‘n’ Play brings on a wave of nostalgia. The group released three full length albums between 1988 and 1991 with a focus on positive lyrics and pop-friendly production. The success of the group’s music led to countless House Party films (well, some have counted), a Saturday morning cartoon show and even a series of comic books for Marvel (so yes, technically speaking, Kid ‘n’ Play are part of the Marvel Universe).
It all started here on 1988’s 2 Hype which features “Do The Kid 'n Play Kick Step” (the musical accompaniment to their trademark dance), “Rollin With Kid ‘n Play” which hit #11 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart and of course Kid's now classic hi-top fade haircut, which measured up to over six inches high at its peak. Producer Hurby “Luv Bug” Azor, instrumental in the success of Salt-N-Pepa, was certainly a factor and the full length went on to Billboard Top 200 and RIAA certified gold status.
Unavailable on vinyl for decades, Select Records presents 2 Hype in a colored vinyl pressing exclusive to RSD Black Friday.

This vinyl reissue celebrates the 40th anniversary of Madonna’s debut single, “Everybody,” released on October 6, 1982. Havoc and Bright Lights marked a rebirth for Alanis Morissette, the first album she recorded as a newlywed mother. Delivered a full eight years later, Such Pretty Forks in the Road is the second act of the story, an album about learning how to find contentment at middle age. Morissette wrestles anxieties, origin stories, addictions, parenthood, and partnership throughout the record, searching for reasons and a diagnosis, achieving a sense of peace with having her sense of calm being disturbed on occasion. Appropriately for an album that's decidedly focused on an inward journey, Such Pretty Forks in the Road simmers, never boils. Hooks force themselves into the center stage on "Reasons I Drink" -- the rare tune here that could be called catchy -- but otherwise melody takes a back seat to mood. This doesn't necessarily mean Morissette's words are pushed into the spotlight. Such Pretty Forks in the Road is lacquered in immaculate gloss, a sound that accentuates the interior journey of the songs without quite inviting exploration. A close listen reveals all the troubles rolling around Morissette's mind, but the nice thing about Such Pretty Forks in the Road is how its smooth, placid surface makes the record feel like an album-length guided serenity meditation.

In 1984, Willie Nelson was at the height of his popularity, having racked up sixteen #1 country hits over the previous decade and crossing over to the pop charts multiple times, while starring in a series of hit movies and becoming one of the most recognized figures in popular culture. He united fans across genres and generations and his live shows had become legendary. In February of that year, he performed in Tokyo to kick off a five-city tour that marked his first time playing in Japan, showing how global his appeal had become. The first shows were at the Budokan, the legendary martial arts hall. The February 23rd show was recorded and filmed for broadcast, eventually seeing release only in Japan, as a laser disc. That video was never released anywhere else and the audio was never released at all… until now. Exclusively on vinyl at indie record stores starting on RSD Black Friday, this performance finds Willie and The Family at the height of their powers and includes a 27-song, hit-filled set across two LPs.

Thriller is the 1975 album from Augustus Pablo, the reggae visionary who popularized the use of the melodica in the genre. "History and legend have often found their way into my songs," reflects Grant-Lee Phillips. "But sometimes, I don't have to look quite so far to find inspiration." The ten songs on Grant-Lee Phillips' Walking in the Green Corn are drawn from Phillips intensive investigations into his native lineage. Phillips, who is Muskogee (Creek), elliptically explores the intersection of past and present, personal and political. While the songs delve deeply into the subconscious mystery of his own backstory, they simultaneously reveal the resonance and insight of ancient myth in parallel to contemporary man's emotions, actions, and errors. With the exception of violin and vocals by Sara Watkins (formerly of Nickel Creek) and an understated vibraphone part by Alexander Burke, everything on Walking in the Green Corn was performed, sung, and engineered by Phillips. For the album's 10th anniversary, Walking in the Green Corn is getting its first-ever vinyl reissue on turquoise color vinyl. This edition also includes a bonus 45 single (also on turquoise color vinyl) of two totally unreleased tracks: "Billy Bowlegs" and "Red River." The opening track on 1972's Super Freak is a brilliant, nearly side-long medley of three tracks from Curtis Mayfield's Superfly: the title track, "Pusherman," and, of course, "Freddie's Dead." Heavy, druggy, and psychedelic, with thick organ and wah-wah guitars, the medley sounds more like the psychedelic soul of War or even Funkadelic than the sparkling Latin jazz of Pucho's earlier albums. The rest of Super Freak is a little lighter in tone, but this is still the most groove-oriented and least overtly Latin jazz-oriented of this group's albums, trafficking instead in shuffling grooves like "Oak Hurst's Art" and vibes-led ballads like "Judy's Moods" and "One More Day." Latin jazz purists may balk, but this later became a classic of the '90s acid jazz movement, which some sources date to the U.K. hip-hop group Galliano pinching a sample from this album's version of "Freddie's Dead" for the 1989 single "Frederick Lies Still." -AllMusic

Pete Rock is widely recognized as one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time. His name is oft included in the pantheon of the greatest, alongside DJ Premier, RZA and J Dilla. In addition, Pete has one of the world’s most extensive vinyl collections, the sort of collection whose size can only be estimated – and that estimate stands in excess of 100,000 LPs.
In 2019 Rock launched his own imprint, Tru Soul Records, with the release of Return Of The SP-1200 which debuted exclusively on RSD 2019. For RSD Black Friday, Pete Rock goes back to his roots – the SP-1200 and his vinyl – to debut Return Of The SP-1200 Volume 2 in a unique colored vinyl pressing.

This rare and underappreciated 1973 Impulse! title features a host of influential L.A. musicians and was an important element in the label’s ‘West Coast contingent' of the early 1970s. The album's distinct L.A. sound and energy continue to resonate in modern music circles, from the West Coast Get Down to Carlos Gabriel Niño to Mark de Clive-Lowe. Saracho became disillusioned and left the music business not long after this album was released. Now, his remarkable story and music are re-emerging, ripe for re-evaluation, with this 180g reissue.

The story of Stark Reality… Discovers The Hoagy Carmichael Music Shop begins with Hoagy Carmichael’s son, Hoagy Bix Carmichael. Nearing 30 and working on Wall Street, Bix wanted to do something more worthwhile. He relocated to Boston and started working at WGBH, one of the country’s most innovative PBS stations. There he met Monty Stark, WGBH’s resident “music man.” When Bix set out to create an all new WGBH program, Hoagy Carmichael’s Music Shop, a children’s show revolving around his father’s 1958 children’s album Hoagy Carmichael’s Havin’ A Party, Stark was tapped to do the music. The resulting reimagination of Hoagy Carmichael’s recording was used for the show, and issued on jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal’s AJP label. The recording features Monty Stark on vibes, saxophonist Carl Atkins, Phil Morrison on bass, Vinnie Johnson on drums and John Abercrombie on guitar.
For RSD Black Friday, Now-Again Records debuts a fresh reissue of this fascinating link between the great American song book, the jazz rock movement of the late ‘60s/early ‘70s and even hip-hop, being that Stark Reality… Discovers The Hoagy Carmichael Music Shop has been sampled by artists such as the Black Eyed Peas, Large Professor, J-Live and Madlib.

Often considered one of his coolest works of the late seventies, Ringo The 4th would become one of Ringo Starr’s most loved ventures and one of the finer rock recordings of 1977. Featuring the classic singles “Drowning In The Sea Of Love” and “Wings”, Ringo The 4th truly captures the Beatles drummer and vocalist, a driving and eclectic album that continues to thrill generations of fans.
Whenever the legendary Ringo Starr makes a record, there’s always a little help from his superstar friends like producer Arif Mardin (Aretha Franklin, The Rascals), along with musicians the caliber of King Crimson bassist Tony Levin, the late great Luther Vandross, Bette Midler, David Bromberg, Melissa Manchester and David Foster.
More classics are included like the dancefloor rocker “Can She Do It Like She Dances” and a powerful version of Allen Toussaint’s’ “Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley”, both making this another great album from this legendary rock giant.
Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and Capitol Records in Hollywood, CA, this amazing album will also be manufactured for RSD Black Friday on first time 180g Audiophile Translucent Orange Vinyl. To further enhance your Sir Richard Starkey listening experience, this super limited edition audiophile album will also be housed in a striking gatefold cover with rare photos and lyrics not seen in years.

Tony Williams certainly counts among those unique drummers in jazz whose work has had a lasting influence on style and still does. At the tender age of 16, Williams was brought by saxophonist Jackie McLean to his band in New York, and made his first recording. At 17, Williams was already making a splash in the second Miles Davis Quintet.
Almost twenty years later, on May 30 and 31, 1980, Tony Williams, together with Tom Grant (keyboards, synthesizer, he joined this band on the recommendation of Jeff Lorber) and Patrick O'Hearn (bass, synthesizer), went to the Zuckerfabrik recording studio in Stuttgart/Germany. In the 1970s and early 1980s, this studio was an illustrious address for audio productions of all kinds. Larry Coryell, Wolfgang Dauner, Stephane Grappeli, Elvin Jones, Martin Kolbe + Ralf Illenberger, Volker Kriegel, Alphonse Mouzon, John Scofield and the United Jazz+Rock Ensemble recorded there, to name just a few. Tony Williams and Peter Schnyder co-produced the recording of Play Or Die. The album was recorded in just two days and mixed right there in the studio.
This timeless album, released in an edition of only 500 copies, was hardly promoted at the time and may therefore have remained relatively unknown. All the better that now, for the first time since the release of the vinyl, this recording is available on this RSD Black Friday release with a significantly improved sound.
Tony Williams composed “Para Oriente” and “There Comes A Time” (Tony supplied the vocals).
Tony Williams, Patrick O'Hearn and Tom Grant composed “Jam Tune”.

The deluxe version of the seventh studio album by the late, great Memphis legend, Young Dolph. The album marks Dolph's highest charting release and serves as his commentary on how he is perceived: that no matter how much money he has, in the eyes of America, he will always be a slave. The album features select guest verses from Key Glock, G Herbo and Megan Thee Stallion, who appears on the scorching radio hit “RNB”. Following his untimely demise, Rich Slave serves as an album that showed Young Dolph’s immense growth, his ability to provide social commentary on complex current events, and his ability to inspire those after him to pursue entrepreneurship.
A double vinyl release, with one disc pressed on Opaque Orange and one on Opaque Blue vinyl.
