The collective has completed many tours together, and its debut album Escape From New York comes across as a collection of high level cyphers from Joey Bada$$, Nyck Caution, Kirk Knight, CJ Fly, Flatbush Zombies & more. Not surprising as the Brooklyn natives, a lot of them friends since childhood, have never shied away from the lyrics-centered tradition of New York hip-hop.
Their distinctive voices and skills on the mic, as well as NY-centric storytelling drive the album, and the chemistry is undeniable. The production is tight, but this is also where the supergroup shifts away from musically, perhaps what the title of the project is alluding to. Erick Arc Elliott, Power Pleasant, Sam Wish, and Tyler Dopps lay down slick, bouncy instrumentals as opposed to boom bap, and it's refreshing and fun to hear the group expand its sound. Check out "Distance," "Left Hand," "Snow In The Stadium," "Far Away," and "Coast/Clear."
The RSD Black Friday edition features 2LPs on translucent orange color and a Beast Coast Sticker.
Intoxicated Demons: The EP is the debut extended play by American hip-hop trio The Beatnuts. It was released in 1993 by Relativity Records and was produced exclusively by The Beatnuts. The project consisted of two singles, "Reign of the Tec" and "No Equal," in addition to eleven cuts and five skits, spanning a total length of twenty-five minutes. Upon release, reviewers praised the album for its blend of jazzy boom bap, syncopated lean drum machines and a myriad of jazz, funk and soul samples. For the 30th anniversary, Intoxicated Demons: The EP will be released on Red vinyl exclusively for RSD Black Friday.
ATCO/Rhino honors the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s immeasurable legacy with an EP of three songs making their debut on vinyl. Tribute includes “Midnight Walker Lament,” which combines the instrumental “Midnight Walker” from 18 (Beck’s 2022 album with Johnny Depp) with a spoken word poem by Imelda May, a live version of “Elegy For Dunkirk,” featuring Jeff and singer Olivia Safe, and a blistering live version of “Going Down,” recorded in Paris with Beck backed by bassist Rhonda Smith, drummer Jonathan Joseph, vocalist Jimmy Hall, and guitarist Carmen Vandenberg.

First pressing of the score from the 2023 British slasher film that generated viral buzz for its murderous take on some of our childhoods' most beloved characters. Pooh and Piglet have become feral and bloodthirsty murderers who terrorize Christopher Robin and his friends when he returns to the Hundred Acre Wood many years after leaving for college. Andrew Scott Bell's music in the film, complete with a beehiveolin (a beehive made from a violin), is a special treat for horror fans!

"We decided to return to Carson Creek Ranch's 'River Stage', the former site of LEVITATION to bring it all back home. In the early days we used to play along with the film “Apocalypse Now” and this brings it back full circle. - THE BLACK ANGELS

3 Feet High and Rising is the debut studio album by hip-hop trio De La Soul, and was released on March 3, 1989. It marked the first of three full-length collaborations with producer Prince Paul, which would become the critical and commercial peak of both parties. It contains the singles, “Me Myself and I”, “The Magic Number,” “Buddy,” and “Eye Know”. The album title came from the Johnny Cash song “Five Feet High and Rising”. It is listed on both Rolling Stone’s 200 Essential Rock Records and The Source’s 100 Best Rap Albums. When Village Voice held its annual Pazz & Jop Critics Poll for 1989, 3 Feet High and Rising was ranked #1. It was also listed on Rolling Stone’s The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Released amid the 1989 boom in gangsta rap, which gravitated towards hardcore, confrontational, violent lyrics, De La Soul's uniquely positive style made them an oddity beginning with the first single, “Me, Myself and I.” Their positivity meant many observers labeled them a “hippie” group, based on their declaration of the “D.A.I.S.Y. Age” (Da. Inner. Soul. Yall). Sampling artists as diverse as Hall & Oates, Steely Dan and The Turtles, 3 Feet High and Rising is often viewed as the stylistic beginning of 1990s alternative hip hop (and especially jazz rap). 3 Feet High & Rising was chosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry for its cultural significance and general excellence.
This special boxset release of De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising includes twelve 7” custom singles pressed on splatter vinyl and housed in custom sleeves, housed in a box that includes a 7” pinup and a double-sided 7” slipmat, and is available first at record stores as part of RSD Black Friday. "

This release faithfully re-creates the original one-sided promo 12” for the single “Gett Off” that introduced Prince’s new band. The cover and label proclaimed, “Nothing can stop…Prince and the New Power Generation” and the release contains the “damn near 10 min” mix of the song on one side with a blank flip side. The original version was provided to radio and club DJs as a promo on Prince’s 33rd birthday (June 7, 1991) and only 1,500 copies were created. Not originally planned to be included on the 1991 album Diamonds and Pearls, the response to the track was so strong that an edited version was added to the album and became a successful single.

Months before recording his Swami Records debut, Dan made a record with his frequent collaborators in Plate Six. Unreleased until now, the record captures Dan in his hometown scene before the world had really met him. Two of the tracks were released on a 7" in 2005 and other versions of a couple tracks were on his Swami Records debut. The rest of the tracks are previously unreleased. This record is being released by Seasick Records in Birmingham, and will most likely to be available in that area.

In early 1991 Screaming Trees were in a shambles. Mark Pickerel had left the band a year earlier and Van was off playing bass for Dinosaur Jr. Mark Lanegan and Gary Lee Conner were set to continue with Donna Dresch on bass and a friend of hers on drums. Uncle Anesthesia, the band’s first major label album, on Epic, had just been released. While it seemed that working with the new band members might work, Gary Lee was despondent at the prospect of again playing in the band without his brother as Van had already quit and come back once in 1988. He came up with a plan to ask his brother to return to the Trees if he could get Van’s good friend Dan Peters, who was on a partial hiatus from Mudhoney, to play drums with the band. It worked, Van flew home and the band started rehearsals and soon was touring for the new Epic album.
During this time Screaming Trees went into Conrad Uno’s Egg Studio in Seattle to record a couple of demo tracks. After finishing, Mark Lanegan uncharacteristically suggested they record a live set while all the gear and microphones were set up. All alone in Uno’s Seattle basement, the Trees kicked some rock and roll ass. No audience, no cheering crowd but raw Trees power nonetheless. Here is that session which sat unheard for over 30 years. It’s a great testament to why Screaming Trees are remembered as one the Northwest’s most exciting and intriguing live bands. Pressed on white and yellow “fried egg” colored vinyl.

A timeless hip-hop classic, Souls of Mischief's 93 'Til Infinity was released in February 1993 on Jive Records, serving as the second single from their debut album of the same name. A remarkable feat of lyricism, the track stands out from much of the harder hip-hop that was prevalent in the era. Subtly jazzy and melodic, the song drags listeners in with its winding rhymes, giving listeners a glimpse into how the West Coast brings the heat. Four amazing MCs combine forces to illustrate the power of hip-hop boasting, making this track a timeless hit. To celebrate 30 years of 93 ‘Til Infinity, classic remixes are available on vinyl for the first time ever for RSD Black Friday.

Splinter was comprised of duo Bill Elliot and Bobby Purvis, and their blend of folk, pop, and rock were introduced to Dark Horse Records founder George Harrison in 1973. Harrison was quick to spot their potential and made them one of the first signings to his new label.
The band’s debut album The Place I Love was produced by Harrison and features extensive guitar work by the legendary musician, as well as contributions from Billy Preston, Jim Keltner, and Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) and Gary Wright (Spooky Tooth and “Dream Weaver.”)
One of the earliest recordings to be made at Harrison’s FPSHOT studio in his Friar Park home, this critically acclaimed album was the first to be released on Dark Horse. Billboard highlighted the band’s “strong harmony vocals,” whilst Melody Maker called the album an “outstanding debut.”

Although many metalheads probably assume that Swedish guitar shredder Yngwie J. Malmsteen's first U.S.-based band was Alcatrazz, he was a brief member of another obscure Los Angeles-based metal band called Steeler. The group also featured future Keel frontman Ron Keel (bassist Rik Fox and drummer Mark Edwards also rounded out the band), and the quartet's music was similar to the pop/party metal that was ruling the Sunset Strip at the time. The band was one of the first to be signed to Mike Varney's Shrapnel label (one that has since become synonymous with highly technical guitar shredders), resulting in a lone self-titled release from 1983 before their breakup shortly thereafter. Although the album failed to make much noise upon release, it became a cult classic for fans after Malmsteen and Keel.
This RSD Black Friday release is pressed on clear red vinyl.

From the garage rock gods who brought the world "Super Rock," Stocking Stuffer is the Christmas album for music fans who hate run-of-the mill Christmas music. The Fleshtones just want to rock and they're not about to let Peace on Earth or Goodwill to Men get in the way. "Hooray for Santa Claus" (from the cult classic 1964 b-movie Santa Claus Conquers the Martians) kicks off the album and "Champagne Christmas" looks back to The Fleshtones' classic R&B roots while extolling the virtues of more than a little yuletide bubbly.
Stocking Stuffer is festive enough to get you in the holiday mood but rocks hard enough to keep the eggnog flowing through all your rock'n roll sing-a-longs.

Level Headed was without doubt the most distinctive album Sweet ever produced. It is both varied in itself and very different from almost anything that they had released before. In a lot of ways, it was Sweet taking a risk. It shows many aspects of the band that are easily overlooked on previous albums and unseen aspects for the first time. The album gave them their final Top Ten hit with the dreamy "Love Is Like Oxygen," a single that has become a staple for the band. Featuring three co-writes by Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and guitar guests like Stephen Carpenter of the Deftones and Jonah Matranga of Far and Onelinedrawing, Taproot's Blue-Sky Research tapped a more melodic vein than its predecessors and sold well in 2005 on the strength of such singles as "Calling" and "Birthday." It proved to be their last album for Atlantic, though, which probably explains why it has never seen a vinyl release. Our reissue comes with an inner sleeve housing a (natch) "blue sky" vinyl pressing limited to 1500 copies worldwide.

The fourth night of the famed Fillmore West run that produced the bulk of Live/Dead is an exceptional example--going back more than 54 years—as to why you never miss a Sunday show. Opening (!!) with what would later be known as the Live/Dead suite, 3/2/69 demonstrates the Dead had not only NOT run out of steam after three magnificent shows, in many ways they surpassed the previous nights' wildly powerful music. When your first set is the entire Live/Dead suite, what do you for a second set? Simple! You play for more than an hour and half, making sure everyone goes home way too late, but unimaginably happy.
After the first set's Dark Star>St. Stephen>The Eleven>Lovelight, the second set puts so much icing on the cake that it almost becomes a cake made of nothing but frosting: That's It For The Other One, Morning Dew, Alligator>Caution, and so much more.
We're thrilled to be completing the quartet of what is widely considered one of the greatest runs in Grateful Dead history, mixed from the 16-track master tapes by Jeffrey Norman, and mastered by Jeffrey along with tape restoration by Plangent Processes.

Attics have always exerted an irresistible pull on David J’s imagination. They can unveil luminous jewels that time and dust made seem lost. With Tracks from the Attic, the Bauhaus and Love and Rockets co-founder invites us to join him and climb up the ladder. A most fascinating journey ensues: we’re looking through boxes of tapes, getting reacquainted with an artist we’ve known for a long time, yet the intimate songs he recorded in solitary over three decades reveal new sides to him.
Even while busy with his two legendary groups, David J burst with songs; this is a thrilling selection of recordings he made between 1983 and 2004, some in the studio and most at home, with only the help of his Muse, a recorder and a lighted candle. Like all good attic finds, these songs were committed to tape and almost forgotten - it wasn’t until a fan suggested he’d offer his digitizing skills that David J thought about revisiting them again. All, except deep cut “This Town”, had never been previously heard. The fact that most of these tunes didn’t end up being beloved classics (something that, once you hit play, your ears will hardly come to terms with) is but a sign of David J’s ever busy creative state. Mostly composed on acoustic guitar, they will offer unexpected revelations to long-time fans, as they bring to light facets of his musical self that couldn’t be fully expressed in a band setting. It is indeed fascinating to follow the evolution of David J’s way with songs through the decades, from the observational lyrical montages of the early days to a later, confident embrace of the deeply personal. At the same time, Tracks from the Attic can also be seen as a striking introduction for newcomers - it does feel like meeting one of the great British singer-songwriters for the first time. ‘Oh No! Not Another Songwriter!’, one of the box set’s highlights cheekily cries out. Well, this box set interjects, this is not just any songwriter. Pressed on red vinyl for RSD Black Friday.

Mindsets, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' latest release features six brand new originals plus live versions of the tracks. The album serves as a reminder of what the band is all about – the perfect blend of punk and rock n' roll that feels timeless and immediate at once. "If You're Blue" kicks off the EP with the band's signature crunchy, distortion forward guitar, hooky chorus, and Jett's powerful, snarling vocals. Every track has its own spin on the band's signature tight instrumentation and heavy guitar riffs which provide the perfect backdrop for Jett's vocals, creating a sound that is both powerful and infectious. Jett's voice is a force to be reckoned with as her powerful vocals are full of attitude and emotion. She delivers each song with strong conviction and energy.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Live from the Northwest, 1959 is the newest release from Brubeck Editions, the family run label that only puts out music of the highest musical and technical quality. These exciting performances were recorded by the trailblazing and iconic audio engineer, Wally Heider, who pioneered the art of remote recording from his "studio on wheels". The sound he achieved is stellar, and this is perhaps the best live recording you can hear of one of the most popular jazz groups of all time. The tapes were recorded in April 1959 at the Multnomah Jazz Club and Clark College, both in the Portland Oregon area. Four months later, the Dave Brubeck Quartet recorded their legendary LP, Time Out, and changed the course of jazz forever. This new LP showcases the poll-winning quartet at the peak of their improvisational powers, especially demonstrating their unique mastery of improvising counterpoint (a musical device updated from Bach) while swinging through jazz standards and original compositions.

Originally released in 1995 on Metal Blade Records, You Have the Right to Remain Silent is shock rock from members of the band GWAR and other musicians connected to the band. Peter Lee started this band after being shot in a failed carjacking attempt. The idea for X-Cops sparked while filming a commercial segment for Gwar’s Skulhedface. Lee and Dave Brockie were dressed as police officers and Lee pondered, “What would be cooler than a bunch of cops playing kick-ass rock and roll?” This led to Lee, Brockie and GWAR’s drum technician, Mike Dunn, starting X-Cops as a three-piece band.
You Have the Right to Remain Silent is more metal-oriented than what GWAR was releasing at the time (1995), with speed metal riffs, drums & relentless energy. While the lyrics are roll-on-the-floor laughable (intentionally), the music is seriously amazing. Highly recommended for those with a taste for offensive/tasteless/sick humor! If you’re a fan of GWAR & know what GWAR’s all about, then you’ve been missing out & should pick up this remastered album right away! X-Cops is an essential listening experience! This is the first time the album has ever been reissued and the first time ever released on vinyl (blood red splatter on clear vinyl). It comes with a full color 12x12 insert with lyrics.
• The original lineup featuring Lt. Louie Scrapinetti (Mike Derks), Cadet Billy Club (Mike Dunn), Patrolman Cobb Knobbler (Dave Brockie), Sgt. "I have been a massive Melvins fan since I first saw them play live in Seattle around 1985. They were a huge influence on me as a musician and big part of our local Seattle burgeoning underground rock music scene in the 80s.
I reconnected with the Melvins in 2019 when they performed at the Chris Cornell tribute concert in Los Angeles. After the show, I emailed Buzz and asked if he, Dale, Steven and Toshi could help me record some solo material I had kicking around. I also collaborated with Seattle musician/producer Nate Yaccino and Meagan GrandallI on this release. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, completely dug the results and decided to pay homage to the Melvins by reimagining the artwork (with their permission) from their groundbreaking record Gluey Porch Treatments. Enjoy." Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam)

Eric Carr, who took up the rustic orange persona of “The Fox”, was a fan favorite and remained a member of KISS until his death. Carr’s only solo album, Rockology was completed after his death by fellow KISS member Bruce Kulick. This picture disc vinyl KISS Collector’s Edition, designed and mastered along with Loretta Carr (Eric’s sister) was imagined in the style of the original four KISS solo album, and falls in line with them, featuring Eric in his “Fox” makeup and a 12” x 24” poster in the style of the original releases. A must for fans/collectors of KISS.

Stop us if you've heard this one before: long-time indie favorite finally signs a major label contract and their first album is an overproduced shadow of their former sound. Well, that AIN'T what happened here; the Meat Puppets's first album for London Records (home of their beloved ZZ Top) is actually one of their best. And, ironically, one of their most overlooked, for their new home's major label marketing muscle was no match for the grunge craze that swept the rock music scene in 1991 (of course, grunge gods Nirvana later gave them a hand up on their MTV Unplugged special). "Sam" kicks off Forbidden Places with frenzied vocals from the brothers Kirkwood and maintains the buzz with such highlights as the lyrical "This Day," the twisted southern rock boogie of "Open Wide," and the pickin' and head-spinnin' album-closing instrumental "Six Gallon Pie." Never before reissued on vinyl, this lost early '90s classic comes in boysenberry with black swirl vinyl inside a jacket with an inner sleeve. Limited to 2500 copies worldwide!
