The White Buffalo is Jake Smith: singer, song-writer, guitarist, teller of stories; an artist whose voice – an emotive timber-shakin’ baritone – seems directly linked to a greater truth; an artist who will not be swayed by fashion or restricted by genre. And now, The White Buffalo releases the new studio album, ‘On The Widow’s Walk’ – an 11 song, loosely linked collection of dark thrills produced by Shooter Jennings, who also plays piano and keys. Standard black vinyl.
If there’s one lesson to be gleaned from Jamie Wyatts latest album, Neon Cross, it’s that life goes on. And through it all—good times and bad, dreaming and desperation, there is truth. When it came to capturing that truth on tape, Wyatt had some assistance from Shooter Jennings, who produced Neon Cross. Together, she and Jennings boldly color outside the country lines, taking a wide-lens sonic and stylistic approach to the songs on Neon Cross.
Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Kip Moore’s highly anticipated fourth studio album WILD WORLD will be available May 29. Co-writing 12 of the album’s 13 insightful tracks, he navigates the search to find place and purpose. Throughout the album, that search is revealed in deeply personal terms, with Kip even co-producing the set. The weathered heartland-rock sound Moore has embraced pumps up its emotional volume, recorded live with a full band. CD includes free poster offer, valid thru 12/31/20.
Merritt explains his thinking behind the Quickies concept: “I’ve been reading a lot of very short fiction, and I enjoyed writing 101 Two-Letter Words, the poetry book about the shortest words you can use in Scrabble. And I’ve been listening to a lot of French baroque harpsichord music. Harpsichord doesn’t lend itself to languor. So I’ve been thinking about one instrument at a time, playing for about a minute or so and then stopping, and I’ve been thinking of narratives that are only a few lines long.
The buzz around CHRISTIAN LEE HUTSON started in earnest in 2018 after he began his collaborative friendship with singer Phoebe Bridgers. Hutson co-wrote songs with Bridgers for both the EP of supergroup boygenius (ft. Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus) and her 2019 release with Conor Oberst, Better Oblivion Community Center. The emerging folk artist received further critical attention after Bridgers invited him to Eaux Claires Festival last July, where he performed a solo set and earned praise from festival host Bon Iver. Eventually, Bridgers asked if she could produce an album for him. Engineered and mixed by Joseph Lorge (Blake Mills, Perfume Genius), the forthcoming release also features contributions from Bright Eyes pianist Nathaniel Walcott. To merely call Christian Lee Hutson an old soul would be to deny the vibrancy of his sound. Hutson writes songs that the SF Bay Guardian describes as, "... Foreboding, bluesy love ballads laden with longing nostalgia." Hutson is an avid touring artist and his touring will take him to Austin this Spring for SXSW. For Fans of Phoebe Bridgers, Elliott Smith and Bright Eyes.

"W" was formed out of the need to give more space and a bigger voice to the women who have inspired Populous over the past few years, the women who continue to be part of his artistic and personal life. A tribute to the feminine and its countless facets, an album of sensual, dreamy, and uninhibited electronica. A calm counter to overtly masculine musical environments and an invitation to an ever-inclusive system.

Prince would follow The Rainbow Children with the stunning One Nite Alone… in May 2002. Featuring almost nothing but Prince’s acoustic piano and vocals (save for occasional rhythm from drummer John Blackwell and the ambient cooing of Divinity and Majesty, Prince’s pet doves), this intimate album offers favorites like “U’re Gonna C Me” and a cover of “A Case Of U,” written by one of Prince’s idols, Joni Mitchell. The original album never had a wide physical release as the CD was an exclusive to Prince’s NPG Music Club members and this marks it’s first time on vinyl.
After The Rainbow Children release and before the release of the One Nite Alone… studio album, Prince embarked on a tour of the same name. However, as opposed to the intimacy of the largely solo One Nite Alone… album, this upbeat trek through theaters in North America featured the full talents of Prince’s ever-expanding New Power Generation band. Members at the time included drummer John Blackwell, keyboardist Renato Neto and longtime collaborators like bassist Rhonda Smith and a horn section that included saxophonists Eric Leeds, Candy Dulfer and Maceo Parker. Taken from the highlights of 9 different shows in March and April of 2002 and clocking in at over 2 hours, the resulting 4 LP collection One Nite Alone…Live! was the first official live album of Prince’s career and the 27 tracks included feature selections from The Rainbow Children as well as Prince’s extensive back catalog, played with the full NPG as well as several solo piano excursions (“When U Were Mine,” “Raspberry Beret,” “Adore,” “The Beautiful Ones,” “Nothing Compares 2 U”). This release marks the first time that it’s available on vinyl.

This 2 LP release documents Prince’s mythic late-night after show performances. Never available as physical stand-alone release and only available originally on CD as part of the One Nite Alone box set exclusive to NPG Music Club members, the album features an hour of amazing jams and includes guest appearances by George Clinton and Musiq Soulchild.
As the world greeted the promise of a new millennium, even Prince was experiencing a great sense of transformation. In 2000, he announced the reclamation of his birth name after seven years as an unpronounceable symbol. In 2001, after a period of study and debate with his friend and mentor Larry Graham (former bassist for Sly and The Family Stone), Prince converted to the Jehovah’s Witness faith. These transformations bore fruit with the release of The Rainbow Children at the end of 2001. Billed as “controversial” in its press materials for its open spiritual message, the jazz-inspired record was Prince’s first fully independent release, issued without any major label backing. One of its songs, “The Work, Pt. 1,” was released by Prince as a free download on the file-sharing service Napster; this move, along with direct-to-consumer stream and download options on the NPG Music Club, made Prince a digital music visionary. The Rainbow Children is a continued favorite among Prince’s most fervent admirers due to its complex musical narrative, its use of live drums and a full horn section, and the striking album art by artist Cbabi Bayoc, which still hangs in the hallowed halls of Paisley Park today. The CD has long been out of print and the original vinyl was incredibly limited and copies fetch hundreds of dollars.

It's been 15 years since Long Beach Dub Allstars disbanded, but now, after this lengthy hiatus, the group continues their path of musical evolution and the legacy they started with Sublime with a back-to-basics approach. The band's first new music in nearly two decades, this album is 10 tracks deep and harnesses the feel-good vibrations and the SoCal musical roots of the band's past, as the band puts everything into one musical melting pot of Reggae, Ska, Dub, Hip Hop, and Punk.
Warnings is the third album from I Break Horses a.k.a Maria Lindén. Faced with making the follow-up to 2014's plush Chiaroscuro, she chose to put an emphasis on instrumental, cinematic music. While watching a collection of her favorite films, with the sound muted, she made her own soundtrack sketches. These sonic workouts gradually evolved into something more. "It wasn't until I felt an urge to add vocals and lyrics," says Lindén, "that I realized I was making a new album." Warnings, is an intimate and sublimely expansive return that sets it's own pace with the intuitive power of a much-loved movie. It's sumptuous sound worlds, dreamy mellotrons, haunting loops, analogue synths and layered lyrics crackle with immersive dramatic tension. "It's not a political album, though it relates to the alarmist times we live in. Each song is a subtle warning of something not being quite right."
Limited Edition double LP of Def Leppard performing Hysteria in its entirety at the O2 in London, pressed on crystal clear vinyl. The Hysteria album is a classic, which dominated the charts for two years, ultimately achieving Diamond status.
2020 release. Produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst, First Aid Kit) I'll Get By, Avi Kaplan's 7-track EP firmly establishes the renowned bass vocalist as a generational songwriting talent in the mold of inspirations such as Fleet Foxes, Hozier and Iron and Wine. I'll Get By is an absorbing introduction to an artist with a timeless voice, an independent spirit and a limitless future.

Thirty Tigers artist Teddy Thompson with his debut album Heartbreaker Please. Here s the thing, Teddy Thompson sings frankly on his new album, you don t love me anymore. I can tell you ve got one foot out the door. From its opening track Thompson s new album Heartbreaker Please (out April 24 on Thirty Tigers) reckons with the breakdown of love with a wistful levity as satisfying as it is devastatingly honest. And while the album is drawn from the demise of a real-life relationship, as told from Thompson s perspective, it might also be seen as a projection of his relationship with New York City, the place he has called home for the better part of two decades. A member of the British musical dynasty first helmed by his legendary parents, Linda and Richard Thompson, he left London for the States at 18, settling in New York five years later. "At the time I was just taking a long vacation that never ended, he says. "I wanted to reinvent myself and it was easier to leave it behind and go somewhere new to announce myself as a musician, rather than explain to all the people who ve known you since you were a kid. And you can actually reinvent yourself in America, step off the plane, say 'my name is whatever'." Twenty years later, Heartbreaker Please finds Teddy Thompson perfectly himself, a commanding artist at the top of his craft.
Doc Watson and Gaither Carlton is a new album of old-time music produced from archival recordings by two legendary musicians. These largely unheard tapes were recorded at Doc Watson's two earliest concerts, presented in New York City's Greenwich Village in 1962. Those shows were among the rare appearances Doc's father-in-law, fiddler Gaither Carlton, made outside of North Carolina. The instrumental pieces, including Gaither's signature tune "Double File," include intricate musical interactions developed through years of family music-making. On the songs and ballads, Doc's instantly recognizable baritone voice is accompanied by his own guitar and Gaither's fiddle, or by the traditional combination of fiddle and banjo. Shortly after these recordings were made, Doc Watson embarked on a career as one of America's premier acoustic guitarists, earning the National Medal of Arts and eight Grammy Awards.
Trinidad marks the Merge debut of this mighty sextet from Austin, TX. The songs are stripped down yet more intricate than ever before. It's a pop record made by punk rockers-sonically happy but lyrically bitter. Lustful, sassy, and passionate. Touting inspirations as varied as Prince, T. Rex, William Onyeabor, ABBA, Roy Orbison, Shintaro Sakamoto, Francoise Hardy, and Robyn, Sweet Spirit have created an album that pulsates with more LinnDrum and synth than guitar. From the opening riff of "Behold," Sabrina, Andrew, Danny, Josh, Jon, and Jake establish their slightly cynical world of fantasy, hard truths, and all manner of longing. "No Dancing" bemoans the lack of magic in the club, while live favorite "Fingerprints" sets out to "get you away from your lover."

With their 4th album "Dogs on the Leash" "The O'Reillys and the Paddyhats" present the more than worthy successor of their chart success "Green Blood". The music of the "Paddyhats", with it's life-affirming and also mystical Irish folk, is reminiscent of a stray mutt, who brings along captivating, often funny but sometimes sad stories from his adventures.
Typical Irish melodies meet hard electric guitars and fuse an ancient music culture with the modern world. If you have never left a club dancing, singing and staggering, you don't know what it means to have seen the band live. The O'Reillys and the Paddyhats bring their Irish folk punk to your head, legs and soul! Never keep the "dogs on the leash" !

January 20, 2020 saw the surprise release of David Lynch's short 'What did Jack Do?' on Netflix. If you watched the grainy, police procedural over the last few days, you most likely found yourself saying aloud 'who is Jack Cruz and how can I get more of his music?' Now Sacred Bones is announcing the release of the short's featured original song 'True Love's Flame' by the primate star crooner of yesteryear; Jack Cruz. Not much is known about Cruz's career prior to his involvement with Lynch, but fortunately, we have not just one song, but two: 'Dancin' in the World of Love' is the B-side to the short's single... uncovered recently and an excellent example of Cruz's emotional prowess and magical, gold-dipped vocal cords. Both songs were written by Lynch and Dean Hurley and are available for pre-order in both black and clear vinyl 45s with artwork carefully crafted by Lynch himself.
Dena DeRose's music is like a cool breeze; she's wry, wise, impeccably musical, no-nonsense, and fun. After her three decades as a pianist-singer, DeRose's voice and her fingers are on the most harmonious of terms. She's not afraid of simplicity; DeRose has no time for hollow sentiment, nor does she feel a compulsion to outsmart the makers of the Great American Songbook. Her approach to jazz resides mainly in her swinging rhythm and pianistic phrasing. Her eleventh album as a leader takes it's name from a breezy tune, full of hip changes, that was composed by Alan Broadbent. The lyrics, provided by the legendary Mark Murphy, resonated deeply with DeRose since when she's not teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria, she's frequently on tour. Appropriately enough she is joined by three other HighNote artists-singer Sheila Jordan, saxophonist Houston Person, and trumpeter Jeremy Pelt-all of whom have appeared with DeRose on her global travels. With her long-time rhythm section of Martin Wind and Matt Wilson DeRose delivers recording that celebrates the life of the jazz artist and the friendships they make.
"I think most of it takes place in dreams," Caleb Landry Jones says of his debut solo album, The Mother Stone. "I'm talking more about dreams than I am about what's happened iin the physical realm. Or I'm talking about both, and you're not sure what's what. "This is the kind of conversation you end up having about a record like this one, a sprawling psychedelic suite built from abrupt and disorienting detours and schizoid shifts of voice, it's manic energy forever pulling the tablecloth out from under classic pop orchestration. One minute you're squarely in the realm of biographical fact and a moment later you're having a discussion about lucid dreaming and how Jones once punched up a dream set on a soccer field by willing himself to experience it from the POV of the ball. But maybe that's just another story about grabbing the wheel of your own hallucination; maybe this pertains to the music after all. Some biographical facts: Caleb Landry Jones was born in Garland, Texas in 1989 and comes from a long line of fiddle players. Three, maybe four generations back, on his mother's side. His grandfather wrote jingles for commercials, his mother was a singer-songwriter who taught piano lessons in the house, and his father was a contractor who did a lot of work for the Dallas music-equipment retailer Brook Mays and knew a guy if you needed a bass or a banjo. But Jones is not sure if you can hear any of this in his music and he does not play the fiddle. What you can hear on this record are the marks left by conversion experiences, two in particular. First there's Jones' formative encounter with the Beatles' "White Album," the Fabs record most obviously composed by four Beatles rowing in different directions, and the beginning of what Jones calls "this British Invasion of my soul," which is still ongoing. Second, there's Syd Barrett, cracked vessel of Pink Floyd's most intergalactic ambitions, and the "falling-down-the-stairs" quality of his solo work in particular. "I was dating a girl who was obsessed with him," Jones remembers, "and the fact that I'd never heard him really pissed her off. So we went and got The Madcap Laughs and we listened to it and I could see why it pissed her off. " "John keeps knocking at the door, and so does Syd," Jones says of these songs. "And I'm in there somewhere. And so are a few other people, I think. It would be really boring if it was just one guy. " Jones has been writing and recording music since age 16, around the same time he started acting professionally. Played in a band called Robert Jones for a minute, lost his guitar player to higher education, moved into his own place, and broke up with somebody, at which point the songs really started coming hard and fast. "I started playing guitar and playing more keys," he says, "and then started writing record after record after record after record, because I didn't know what to do with myself. It was a good way of healing. And it felt like as soon as I started doing it, it felt like it needed to happen all the time. " In the ensuing years he'd spend a lot of time carrying unrecorded songs around in his head like goldfish in a bag, waiting for a chance to record them in marathon sessions in his parents' barn. "You gotta play the songs every day, or every two or three days, to keep 'em," he says. "Otherwise I forget them. " Sometimes the ideas fuse together, one chapter to the next; this is how songs grow into seven-plus-minute epics like the ones on The Mother Stone. His back catalog is around seven hundred songs deep- a whole discography of full albums, most of them unheard outside the barn, at least for now. Before long Jones' other job started to keep him away from the barn for longer stretches. You may have seen him playing the drums on television as a member of Landry Clarke's death-metal band on Friday Night Lights. You may have seen him in other things, too. But enough about acting, except for this: A few years ago Jones had a pivotal meeting with Jim Jarmusch, the movie director and musician. "I was a big fan of his work," Jones says, "and I know how I act with people that I'm big fans of their work. So instead of wanting to talk, I thought I'd write him a piece that would somehow let him know who I was. " So Jones spent a few nights composing a new instrumental work for solo piano, and showed up ready to play it for the director at their meeting- which turned out to be at a diner somewhere in Canada, where the amenities did not include a piano, so they had a conversation instead. Jones did slip Jarmusch Microastro and Macroastro, two collections of songs from the barn, most of them four or five or maybe eight years old at that point. Jarmusch liked what he heard, told Jones he should talk to Sacred Bones founder Caleb Braaten, and before long Jones was making the record you're about to hear- whose opening track, "Flag Day/The Mother Stone" incorporates that piano piece Jones wrote to explain himself to Jim Jarmusch. A few more germane facts: The Mother Stone was recorded at Valentine Recording Studios, where everyone from Bing Crosby to Frank Zappa once logged time, refurbished to time-capsule retro standards in 2015 by studio manager and Mother Stone producer Nic Jodoin. Jones brought his collection of battered Yamahas and Casios up from the barn and played them alongside vintage equipment from Jodoin's collection. Working in a real studio gave Jones a chance to slow his creative process down. They built the songs up from acoustic guitar, let them sit a while, circled back. Sometimes Jones and his girlfriend would decompress at the Shakey's down the street, home to a range of acceptable video-arcade options. "They got that thing where you throw it in the clown's mouth," Jones says. "That's fun. I like the look of those clowns. " Maybe the clowns are the key. This isn't a concept album, it's a parade led by multiple unreliable narrators who rail against the universe and profess their love and vacate the stage before we can ask them a question. The circus comes to town, the circus leaves town. A young man from suburban Texas winds up and a clown opens it's mouth as wide as the sky. -Alex Pappademas
Jade Hairpins sneaked onto the scene in late 2018 with a mysterious 12-inch on Merge Records and a couple of poetic sentences about hiding in trees. The label remained tight-lipped while touting Dose Your Dreams, a truly epic new F***ed Up album released on the same day. Fast forward to 2020, when F***ed Up drummer Jonah Falco and songwriter/guitarist Mike Haliechuk burst out of the proverbial trees with Harmony Avenue, a collection of songs written and recorded in real time. Pop foraging with analog acoustics and electronic landscaping. The album's themes mostly focus on contradictory behavior and double entendres as well as regret and control, revelation, support, and complete absurdity. Jade Hairpins are here to challenge, confound, and sparkle their way into listeners' hearts and keep them coming back for more!

The sound quality of the audio and picture quality of the video are both amazing and were digitally re-mastered from the original tapes.
Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 release. With metal anthems like 'Heavy Metal Breakdown', Grave Digger is one of the most influential and pioneering bands of the German heavy metal scene since the early 80s, and 2020 will celebrate the 40th anniversary of these Teutonic metal masters! The ethos of the band has not changed, and yet Grave Digger sound modern and timeless like never before. On their 20th studio album, the band around frontman Chris Boltendahl continues their epic Highlands story. Fields of Blood is the logic consequence of a legendary trilogy and an auditory battle of unique traditional metal! Drifting riff masterpieces such as the stoic "All For The Kingdom", or the epic anthem "Lions Of The Sea", promise earworm and neck muscle training, while Fields Of Blood takes us into the vastness of Scotland on a journey through explosive sound landscapes. It's no surprise that the band even recorded parts of their new longplayer in the Scottish Highlands. As a very special highlight of the album, "Thousand Tears" features the incomparable voice of Noora of Battle Beast, refining the most touching metal ballad of the year in a duet with Boltendahl! Even 40 years later, Grave Digger still stay true to their no-frills traditional brand of metal with unwavering pure steel, which nevertheless offers surprises, and celebrates such a special anniversary of one of the most successful German heavy metal pioneers in the most glorious style!
Limited vinyl LP pressing. 2020 release. Vandenberg. A name with an illustrious past. Led by master guitarist Adrian Vandenberg, the Dutch foursome released three quality albums during the early to mid-'80s, namely, the self-titled 1982 debut, (spawning the US hit single 'Burning Heart') 'Heading For A Storm' ('83) and 'Alibi' ('85). Adrian was a member of Whitesnake for 13 years at the height of their fame, contributing the solo on their #1 hit 'Here I Go Again', he spent many years dueling with Steve Vai on guitar and has returned for many reunions. He was part of supergroup Manic Eden and more recently, he has shown his cultured ability is firmly intact with Vandenberg's Moonkings. The guitarist pulled a master stroke by bringing in Chilean born Ronnie Romero on vocals; who's forged a formidable reputation over the past few years with Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. In the words of Adrian Vandenberg: "Fasten your seat belts, just when you thought all was safe, Vandenberg are back!"
Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 release. Aside from the strings, Lewis and Richard play every instrument on the album.
