CASPAR BABYPANTS - Jump For Joy! - Aurora Elephant
Jump For Joy! is the 13th album from Seattle family entertainer Caspar Babypants, Caspar is also known as Chris Ballew from the rock and roll band the Presidents of the United States of America. This album is a delightful mix of traditional songs that have been updated by Caspar ("Froggie Went A Courtin'," "Where Oh Where?," "Ten Little Piggies" to name a few) and sweet silly originals ("Free Couch," "I Feel Better," "Blackberry Pie," "Pushy The Tug" to name a few more). Just another amazing, funny, entertaining album from Caspar Babypants!
GRIZZLY BEAR - Painted Ruins - RCA
Grizzly Bear releases their highly anticipated fifth full-length album Painted Ruins following up their 2012 commercial breakthrough Shields. The band spent the better part of two years writing and recording the eleven new compositions featured on Painted Ruins with the entire album produced by Grizzly Bear's own Chris Taylor.
STEVEN WILSON - To The Bone - Caroline
Steven Wilson releases To The Bone, his expansive, brilliant fifth album, via Caroline International. It is the follow-up to 2015's Hand. Cannot. Erase. (one of Rolling Stone's best albums of 2015). A gloriously dynamic modernist pop record as imagined by the UK s biggest underground artist, To The Bone is Steven Wilson's hat-tip to the hugely ambitious progressive pop records of his youth (think Peter Gabriel's So, Talk Talk's Colour of Spring, Tears for Fears' Seeds of Love). The album is also available on Indie Exclusive Limited Edition Bone Colored Vinyl.
SHELBY LYNNE & ALLISON MOORER - Not Dark Yet - Silver Cross Records
Not Dark Yet was recorded in Los Angeles in the summer of 2016. The album provides a potent look at the sisters' individual and collective artistry through eclectic song choices from writers ranging from the Louvin Brothers, Nick Cave, Kurt Cobain, and back to Jessie Colter. Shelby and Allison wrap their arms around the past, plant their feet in the present, and nod toward what's around the bend with a co-written "Is It Too Much," to close out the ten-song set.
NECK DEEP - The Peace And The Panic - Hopeless Records
2017 release from the Welsh pop punk band. The album is the follow-up to their 2015 album Life's Not Out To Get You. In an interview, singer Ben Barlow was asked about the story behind the album, and he responded: "The Peace And The Panic is about how we've grown up and experienced life in the last couple of years. When we were writing Life's Not Out To Get You, we were going through a period of uninterrupted happiness. We were super content, but as that album came out, life changed for us. Over the two years we've toured that record, so much has happened that I've re-evaluated what life is about and questioned whether just having a positive outlook is enough." Neck Deep's sound has been described as a combination of Blink - 182, New Found Glory, The Wonder Years, Green Day and the Descendents. Vocalist Ben Barlow has stated A Day to Remember as a massive influence on the band. Fall Out Boy and Sum 41 have also been cited as influences.
