New Album Spotlight - Black Panther: The Album

Marvel's new black superhero movie, Black Panther, will premiere in theaters - including West Seattle's own Admiral - on Thursday. The movie is being called "revolutionary," and is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The New York Times called it "a jolt of a movie" and said "in its emphasis on black imagination, creation and liberation, the movie becomes an emblem of a past that was denied and a future that feels very present. And in doing so opens up its world, and yours, beautifully."

While you're waiting for the premiere, pick up our best-selling CD of the week, Black Panther: The Album, overseen by - and starring - Kendrick Lamar, who collaborates with SZA, James Blake, J Rock, Future, Travis Scott, and The Weeknd and takes his own solo turn on the title track. The other nine songs on the soundtrack feature knockouts like Vince Staples, Anderson Paak, Schoolboy Q, and 2 Chainz, plus names that may not be as familiar -  Yugen Blakrock, Zacari, Jorja Smith, and Babes Woduma. The soundtrack is getting just as many raves as the movie, so don't sleep...pick it up!
