Listen To Chris Cornell Put Johnny Cash's Poems To Music
Today would've been Johnny Cash's 86th birthday, and on this day his fans get a true gift. Chris Cornell paid tribute to the Man In Black by combining two of Cash's poems into a beautiful new song titled "You Never Knew My Mind." The song was recorded for an upcoming album of Cash's unrecorded poems & lyrics put to music, called Forever Words, which drops on April 6th. Other artists featured on the album include Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, Elvis Costello, Rosanne Cash, and Brad Paisley. Cornell's contribution was based on two poems, "You Never Knew My Mind," and "I Never Knew Your Mind," and, as Cash's son John Carter Cash told Rolling Stone, "Chris took the two pieces and put them together in this one ... I can't listen to it without it laying me down. I mean it still and it did that before Chris passed."
Happy Birthday, Johnny Cash.
