Win Tickets To Cornelius (+ Signed Vinyl)!
Japanese producer/multi-instumentalist Cornelius (aka Keigo Oyamada) broke through with his 1997 album, Fantasma, which resulted in his becoming one of the most sought-after producers in the world. He became known as a "modern-day Brian Wilson" and his strongest influences are indeed the Beach Boys and Beck, but with a more experimental bent. Other career highlights include 2002's Point, about which Pitchfork raved, "you could very satisfyingly listen to Point while casting Cornelius as some kind of modern-day Esquivel, a master of arrangement and studio technologically and virtually everything that makes you cup your hands over your headphones and be just plain wowed by the stuff that's coming out of them," and 2007's Sensuous (All Music: "Even sleeker and more stylized than Point, Sensuous lives up to its title, with intricate textures and lush atmospheres that are almost tangible, and melodies that evoke visions of lines stretching off into the horizon or tunneling into infinite spirals."). Cornelius live shows are the stuff of legend, with mind-blowing visuals and lighting that raises the overall concert experience to a new level. Sound good?
